What's Up Tonight? ("we", "the app") helps you find events, places, and pickup games near you in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app handles and what we do with it.
Taste profile. Your interests, age range (if given), preferred distance, saved and hidden events, and swipe history. Stored on your device. If you sign in, a copy is stored on our servers (hosted by Supabase) so it syncs between devices.
Account. If you sign in, we store your email address to send you sign-in links. There are no passwords.
Location. Your location is used on your device to center the feed. When you type a town or address, that text is sent to a geocoding service (Photon by komoot) to find coordinates. We do not keep a history of your locations. If you post a pickup game, the game's venue and time are public by design.
Usage signals. When you open, save, hide, or swipe on an event, we record the event, the action, and a random session or account ID. This powers recommendations, "trending near you," and the aggregated trend reports described below.
Pickup games. Games you post (sport, venue, time, notes) and games you join are visible to other people using the app nearby. Your display name, if you set one, appears on the roster.
Trend reports are built only from grouped statistics — by town, category, and day of week — with small groups removed so no individual can be singled out. They never include names, emails, precise locations, or device identifiers. If you'd rather not contribute, turn off Anonymous trends in your account settings; your activity is then excluded automatically.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Some listed events are for adults only.
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Synced profiles are kept while your account exists; usage signals are kept in identifiable form for up to 24 months and in aggregate thereafter. Google-sourced place details are refreshed and not cached beyond 30 days.
We'll update this page as the app grows and note the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
